Awarded Grants
The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia has received grants totaling $120,000.00 for their Neuro-Oncology research program. The director of the Neuro-Oncology research program is Dr. Cassie Kline, an attending physician and Kortney Rose Foundation Clinical Researcher in Neuro-Oncology at CHOP. Dr. Kline is also an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania's Perelman School of Medicine.
In November 2022, CHOP researchers published a proof-of-concept study in the Journal for ImmunoTherapy of Cancer that identified a protein on the surface of multiple pediatric brain tumors that can be safely targeted with immunotherapy in preclinical models. Jessica Foster, MD, an assistant professor at CHOP's Research Institute, also studies how to optimize immunotherapies to improve outcomes for pediatric patients with brain and spinal cord tumors.
